uh... important note to self

If you are going to be nice to your family by making chicken noodle soup and leaving it on the stove, you should turn the heat down to LOW before you leave for work.

PS - and review with Jake what to do - other than run - when the house is filled with smoke.

Addendum - say another prayer of thanks that only the pan was burned.

You're turning into me - run!

I nearly posted that myself, but thought better of it -

For future reference if you are going to pass on any other traits - I'll take the quick wit over the ability to set the house on fire.

Don't tell anyone, but I had a similarly potentially scary incident the other night. On a whim, I put on some Ravioli to cook. I put it on low and forgot all about it.

30 minutes later, my wife and I were upstairs making some rare but wonderful love. In the middle of foreplay, for what reason I don't know, I remembered the Ravioli and excused myself to go down and turn off the burner, scrape the food from the pot, and be thankful that I didn't burn down our home.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that I forgot it or the fact that I remembered it when I remembered it.
